Grocery prices in Jamaica change constantly, and the same item can cost very different amounts at different chains. BuyersMarket compares every price it collects with what other chains charge and with the store's own recent prices, so you know if TODAY's price is a good one.

🧮 How Ratings Are Worked Out

1. Compared with other chains first

Each price is first compared with what the other chains charge for the same item, or a matched equivalent of the same size. A store that is cheaper than the others never rates worse than a dearer one.

2. Otherwise, compared with the store's own recent prices

If no other chain sells the item, we compare today's price with what that store has charged for it recently.

3. Too little data? A neutral B

When there isn't enough to compare yet, the item gets a neutral B, marked "New product". A B like this doesn't mean it's a bargain, just that we're still learning its price.

Only stores we check every day are rated

Ratings are given only at the 14 stores we check every day. Other stores show an estimated price range instead, and never get an A, B or C.

Say you look up a 2 kg bag of brown sugar, and three chains sell that same bag:

• The chain with the lowest price, or one very close to it, gets an A (Grab It!)
• A chain a little above the lowest price gets a B (Fair Price)
• A chain well above the lowest price gets a C (Hold Off)
